Nicklaus Fast Children

According to the information on Nicklaus and Cadarina Fast's tombstone, they had 6 daughters and 8 sons. Not all of these children lived to adulthood. In 1883, Jacob Fast, grandson of Nicklaus Fast, wrote the "History of the Fast Family" for a family reunion. In this historical sketch, Jacob identified the following children of Nicklaus Fast. This information has been verified by Nicklaus Fast's Will, church attendance and birth records. Sons: Francis, Jacob, Adam, Christian Daughters: Catharine (Weaver), Barbara (Aultman), Katy (Bowman), Anna, and Elizabeth. Four additional sons and one daughter did not live long enough to be identified in Nicklaus' Will. Two of these four boys and one daughter have never been identified. Perhaps they died very young. Two additional sons have been identified via birth records and church attendance records. These two sons are Johann Jacob Fast #1 (1750-bef. 1758), and Nicklaus Fast (Jr.) (1758-?). Nicklaus Fast (Jr.) was named, of course, after his father. The date and circumstances of his death are unknown. However, he was old enough to addend religious instruction classes with his two sisters Elizabeth and Barbara in February of 1771. No additional records of Nicklaus have been found. He may have died before reaching adulthood. Johann Jacob Fast was baptized September 9, 1750. It is estimated that he died very young, perhaps at birth, because his name was given to his brother Johann Jacob #2, who was born in 1758. Both boys were named after their grandfather Johann Jacob Fast (?-1732).
